Finch began playing softball as early as age 5. She was the daughter of Doug Finch, her father. Doug was her pitching coach. He invented the Finch Windmill which was a arm conditioning machine which Jennie began using at 10. Jennie pitched 13 no-hitters as well as six flawless games while in high school. After her time in high school, she enrolled at the University of Arizona and was recognized as a three-time All American pitcher, as and a first-baseman.
